INFORMATION ABOUT DAYTRIPS

There are four daytrips possible.

1. Paramaribo and surroundings
(6:30 – 19:00)

We will visit Peperpot an abandoned coffee plantation, Weg naar Zee and when we do not find the Crimson-hooded manakin in Peperpot also the Cultuurtuin. See for info about the birds in these places Paramaribo.

2. Warapa kreek
(6:30 – 18:00)

This is a boat trip. See for info about the birds Paramaribo.

3. Savannah
(4:00 if you want to see the nightjars, or else 5:30 – 18:00)

There are two different trips to the savannah. One visits the Powaka savannah, Phedra and Berlin. The other visits the area around the international airport Zanderij and Berlin. See for info about the birds in these places Overbridge. Berlin has a nice and old cemetery, which is very good for birds. Paradise Jacamar. Purple Throated Fruitcrows  and Black Nunbirds are regularly seen and there is a good chance for Cayenne Gay. Behind this cemetery is a small beautiful savannah, with Grasland Sparrows. The rare Lesser  Elaenia has been spotted there recently twice.

If you hire a car yourself it is much cheaper. You have to take care for food yourself also for me and pay my guide fee, which is 60 euro for 1 and 2 persons and 90 euro for 3 or more persons. I can help you rent a car. You need an international drivers license.

Warapa kreek is only possible all in.
