BIRDWATCHING IN AND AROUND AMATOPO RAINFOREST RETREAT

Stacks Image 99
Amatopo is an ecotourism lodge situated on the Corantijn River, near the indigenous village of Amatopo. The lodge offers beautiful accommodations, including two luxurious suites in the main lodge, four double rooms on the hilltop, and two private riverside cottages.

The flight to Amatopo takes approximately 1.5 hours.

There is a restaurant on site, where all meals are prepared.

The area around the lodge is excellent for birdwatching. Nearly all macaw species occurring in Suriname have been observed near the lodge.

Several forest trails are available, which we will use to look for species such as Band-tailed Antshrike, Boat-billed Tody-Tyrant, and Yellow-billed Jacamar.
